The History of Chthon

The series were inspired by Piers Anthony's fiction books Chthon and Phthor. It was my first serious attempt in fantasy illustrating, and I consider it the greatest failure of all time. Still, the dark green setting of the books gave the series an appreciable integrity in style. A year later, discontented with the results, I created a new series of illustrations, called The Passion for Chthon.
